One word…HILARIOUS- @CEOcypha
While stalking Skrillex‘s Twitter, I stumbled across a gem. Birdy Nam Nam is a French DJ group consisting of Crazy B, DJ Pone, DJ Need and Little Mike. While their name might seem crazy, their mixes are even crazier. Though European, they take Southern and West Coast influences and blend them into something new and awesome. Check out the Grand Theft Auto-like visuals to accompany their song Cadillac Dreams featuring Teki Latex below.
We’ve been blessed yet again with a killer collab that none of us were expecting. This time Khaled gathered together three of the hottest new emcees in the game and it does not disappoint. J Cole starts it off and passes the torch to K.R.I.T. then the two let Kendrick finish. The only thing i didn’t like about this song was trying to figure out who had the best verse afterward. Take a listen for yourself below and decide.
British songstress Ellie Goulding has just blessed us with the visuals to her latest single “Anything Could Happen”. The video features over 1200 fan submitted Instagram pictures and has been gaining the ears and hearts of listeners worldwide. Ellie’s fist US hit “Lights” is still dominating pop/dance radio and is currently dominating near the top of the Hot 100 Billboard charts. For many of us in the states Ellie was introduced to us when we began to hear Electronica/Dubstep remixes of her most popular cuts. She has further embraced the Electronica/Dance influence and we can expect much more of her unique take on the pop genre on her upcoming October 9th release of ‘Halcyon’. Shoutout to Xaphoon Jones on the production.
Just a lil something to enjoy at the end of everyone’s first day back to work.
The day after rapper/singer Drake gets a tattoo that is reportedly paying homage to late singer Aaliyah, he drops a song Enough Said featuring the late singer. Being a huge fan of the singer, it does make me feel some type of way that new music is being released after her death but then we must remind ourselves that Biggie, Pac and Michael Jackson among others were used in the same way. But what do you think? Let her rest in peace or introduce another generation to her angelic voice?
Since his Unforgettable sample of fallen R&B legend Aaliyah‘s record Let Me Know [At Your Best], rapper/singer Drake has again and again showcased his admiration in some interesting ways. Last year, it was a tattoo of her face below his left shoulder. Now, the superstar from Toronto has gotten yet another tattoo that is linked to the singer. On his right ribcage is a tattoo that reads “416“; however, he got it styled in such a way that it can also be read as “116“. 416 is his hometown of Toronto’s area code, but “116” is the numeric form of Aaliyah’s birthday. [January 16, 1979: 1/16/1979]. The tattoo also comes a week after the news broke that Drake is rumored to be an executive producer on a new Aaliyah album. What do you think? Has Drake’s infatuation with Aaliyah gone too far, or is this a normal way of showing love to a superstar this is still missed and mourned among millions? Comment and let me know what you think!
