Get Stoned [Hip Hop Meds] x DiVance W (Official Video)

Comments 2 Standard

New dopeness from my fave SoCal wordsmith DiVance W. The track is entitled Get Stoned [Hip Hop Meds] , from his recent EP Blinded Conversations.  With a style that is all his own and atypical of what you  would expect of a West Coast emcee, he easily and  quickly made his way into my fave emerging artists of 2013.  The EP is dope. You can find it here. Check out the visuals [shot by yours truly} 🙂 to his first single Get Stoned [Hip Hop Meds] below, and the whole project here

Jeezy Arrested?!

Leave a comment Standard

The news I must bring breaks my heart. One of my favorite Southern MCs and all around people Young Jeezy has been arrested  on battery, false imprisonment and [allegedly] making “terroristic threats” against his son. Names have not been released, but I assume it’s his son who refers to himself as Young Boss aka Lil Jeezy [watch his first video here] Apparently in September of 2012 he and his son [who is over 18] got into a fight in a bathroom, in which at one point Jeezy allegedly said “I will kill you,” and choked him out.  Word has not spread on what caused the fight, but it was a scramble between the two, with Jeezy obviously being the victor. He turned himself in on last Friday and was released on $45,000 bond.

I’m not sure how the rest of the world will take this, but hopefully this will not be damaging to Jeezy’s career. It wasn’t simply abuse; his son did assault him as well. It is also not a case of child abuse, since his son was 19 at the time. And Jeezy sounded very similar to many Black mothers I know in his way-more-threatening way of saying “I brought you into this world; I can take you out.” As a person who heard this numerous times and suffered my fair share of corrections, I can’t automatically feel a lot of pity for the son in the situation. But what do you think about the whole debacle? Do you think this is just an adult ass-whooping that needed to happen, or is it still considered child abuse [though he was an adult]? Vote and comment below and let me know what you think! Keep your head Jeezy. Atlanta will always love you. Either way, let’s hope for reconciliation between Jay Jenkins and his son.

Keep your head Jeezy. Atlanta will always love you.

Spoiled Milk 2013 ft Young Thug, Johnny Cinco, Tuki Carter and more!

Leave a comment Standard

This year’s Spoiled Milk concert brought us much more entertainment and less disappointment than 2012’s Spoiled Milk . This year was shots-fired-free and boasted performances including Young Thug “Stoner”, Johnny Cinco “Gave The Wrong Young Nigga Money”, Money Makin Nique, Earthgang “ProVerbs”, and more! My only complaint about the event is that the organizer’s messed up one of my favorite acts, Chiiirp‘s set and I didn’t get to see her perform. Anywho, check out the footage below: feel free to skip around to find your favorite artists.

TKO Remix x Justin Timberlake ft J Cole, A$AP Rocky & Pusha T: Kendrick Lamar Diss?

Leave a comment Standard

I may be late but I stumbled across this and felt a responsibility to post this because it didn’t get all the attention I felt it deserved. Following the second installment of the amazing 20/20 Experience, Justin Timberlake shows us his hiphop roots and collabed with three of 2013 biggest stars for this track. The TKO Remix features J. Cole, A$AP Rocky and Pusha T. And it does not disappoint. To put it simply, Cole’s verse was a TKO in itself. Sheesh.

Dude. Went. In.

While many haven’t responded to Kendrick’s Control verse besides a tweet, Cole dedicates at least a mean 16 to the subject and comes at Kendrick in the most frenemy way possible. [I’m just glad he didn’t ruin the changes of that collab album they’re supposed to be working on}. The last bar is also said to be a shot at another friend of Cole’s, no other than Drizzy Drake himself. [If you listen closely, you’ll hear Cole fake cry at the end of the verse; what many think was a shot at emotionally-open Drake]. The song was also complimented with an above-average verse from Rocky and always stellar performance from King Push. It’s just my opinion that they should’ve reversed the order of the song because Cole definitely made it his World with his verse. I’m just glad to see that the hiphop heavyweights can maintain a friendly rivalry, and that we get to reap the benefits. Check it out below and PLEASE comment to let me know what you thought about it!

The Light x Slim [VIDEO]

Happy to bring you visuals from one of the coolest cats I ever met. Slim finally gives us the visuals to The Light. It’s from the mixtape Money x Motives, which drops next week on January 10. The Northern emcee, originally from Rochester MI, still manages to give off the chill yet hard-hitting lyricism that so many Southerners have made possible. The way the North and South mesh put me in the mind of a young J. Cole. The vid is simple but very dope and makes you keep up with the killer bars. Not to mention a hook more catchy than the flu. Check out the dopeness below and let me know what you think. Also, check back next Friday for more music from Money & Motives.

The Thrill x DJ Genius ft Sy Ari Da Kid & DaOne

Produced by Alex Lusti and made possible by DJ Genius, The Thrill is indeed a thrilling track featuring Sy Ari Da Kid and DaOne. Both rising emcees give the laidback track an attack that makes gives it great balance and exemplifies their talent. And I absolutely love the production. I hope for more collabs from these three in the future. Check out the track below.
