In a world of songs with starter pack samples, Lonely x Nasaandelivers a sultry ’90s hit in a new and refreshing way. Produced by JoFlame, the track has an R&B feel with a hiphop, down Souf bounce that’s sure to please the ears of both oldheads and cool kids alike.
Nasaan has been making a name for himself on Soundcloud for a grip, and this single is another sure hit for the emerging emcee. With a solid alley oop from JustMario on the hook, the track gives us the best of both worlds. Listen next time you’re feeling a little lonely.
I love an artist who dares to be different and take the road less traveled. The Windy City’s ownCharlie Xilehas breathed a fresh air of life into me with the new his new single, Not That Girl.
As a prominent and proud member of the LGBT community, bold is one of the many things this multi-faceted artist has had to be. His bars much his instantly intriguing aura as he lets us know that “in Wonderland, [he’s] Alice” and refers to himself as a “legendary cunt.” (I’m upset I didn’t coin the term, tbh). His bars are no joke, and speaking of bars, the two men changed by the neck in the video also indicate Mr. Xile shows no mercy to those who cross him. Check out the major symbolism in the video, my favorite of which Charlie wears an American flag around his neck like a noose as he proclaims “you a dumb ho, you get strangled.” Here. For. It.
Check out the official visuals for the song below and def check my site soon as I am sure to follow this entertaining and intelligent emcee as he continues to break all the rules while still keeping us all in line.
As the summer draws to a close, I’ve been looking for some mellow hiphop to vibe out and think about the imminent approach of cuffing season. I found the perfect track to do so with in Wrong Way x WhatIsDoms. The soothing and sweet track entails the demure side of Doms as he serenades a love interest that has been clearly going the wrong way and taking much less than she deserves in her previous relationships.
Rather than dirty mackin’ and focusing on what the next guy isn’t doing, the song shows off all the things that girls love to receive in relationships from fast replies and quality time. The production by JoFlame will steal your heart just as quickly as the lyrics. Go the right way and listen to this track below.
ATL’s own Kodie Shane provides us with new and improved visuals that showcase her unique swagger in Drip On My Walk. The MC on the rise has been making some noise on the indie Atlanta scene for quite some time due to her unique style, innovative approach to hip hop and colorful personality. This video combines all three in a way that’s instantly captivating and makes you want to hear and see more.
Peep the colorful and creative vid and you’ll see a lot of Lil Yachty, who Kodie was at one point rumored to be possibly boo’d up with. *insert lurkin’ eyes emoji* Although they both shut those rumors down, you can check out the undeniable bond between the two below. You can also catch a glipse of Kodie posted up in front of a building formally known as Department Store a cultural hub for many of New Atlanta’s most buzzworthy new artists for the past several years such as Makonnen, 6lack as well as Kodie herself. Do it for the culture Kodie!
Whenever I think of Detroit it’s usually synonomous with being cold. Not too into that. Luckily talented track runner Tony GotTheMunchies brings some real heat from the Motor City with his new single Guilty. This laidback but energetic excerpt [which lasts exactly 3:13, ayyeee] has infectious punchlines and an even more memorable hook.
Produced by Taylor King, the track with its evolving bass lines and airy feel definitely leaves you with the munchies wanting to vibe at to at least one more track…or a couple. Feed your appetite for hiphop by listening to this track below.
Just in time for the twilight of summer comes a dreamy track from ATL Songstress Sophia. Fresh off the release of her critically-acclaimed EP Love $o: The New Classic, she serves us a seductive and soothing melody that expresses a feeling that every woman feels.
“Keep your eyes on me” is both a request and an offer you can’t refuse as $o easily influences you to Focus on her. Check it out below.
Fresh off the success of Cocaine in the Evening, Shaun B returns with a startling new single ‘Indie.’ The East Atlanta native creates an element that can only be described as a state of euphoria. From the SlowKings production, to the strong pen and vocal range, even down to the Cam Kirk visual concept everything together is nothing less than exceptional. The airy light feel of the music combined with the monster bass on the production give us the best of both worlds on this ridin-round-town worthy track.
