For some people, the Atlanta rap scene has become synonymous with mumble rap but emcee J. Nolan plans to change all of that real quick with Rise of ATLantis.
I’ve been working with this talented guy since 2012 so I was dying to sit down and catch up. Since discovering him and posting his music in 2012, this artist has gotten his music in A LOt of higher places including TV and music placements; most recently being featured on the Instagram of Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel. On top of that, J Nolan has started his own blog entitled Fresh and Local ATL. Here he gives other up and coming emcess the opportunity to feature their music and events as well as recommending healthy eating options and holistic practices for the everyday human. (But only if it’s fresh).

There are plenty of interesting events for creatives in the beautiful city of Atlanta, but I haven’t seen one that combined art and fashion quite like Life Size Coloring Book. The art show featured clothing from Wildlyfe Clothing, Steez Fiends, Bryn Mawr , BBX Lifestyle; as well as visual art from several incredibly talented visual artists. It also featured performances from The Lvrds and even a special appearance/performance from Kap G! Check out some of the fye merch and click the links to purchase!

New music from one of New Atlanta’s most outspoken influencer Maui Max. The young emcee has been making some noise on the scene for quite some time qith his introspective bars and philosophical perspective on things both ratchet ans sophisticated. He has also distinguished himself by being extremely open with struggle with depression. I, as well as many others in the industry, commend him for infusing his bars with the realness. The black community has had a problem with masking our mental health issues, but I am so grateful for this generation of artists being a light and creating a dialogue that can save lives. Take a trip with Max above in the visuals for When I’m Geeked.
