Mr. West is at it again with groundbreaking music and actions to go along with it. Late last night, he released his new song New Slaves which will be on his upcoming album rumored to be entitled I Am A God. How he debuted the song was the striking part. Ye used video projections across 66 buildings worldwide displaying a black and white image of his face as he performed the song. That, my friends, is one of the most egotistical yet truly artistic things I’ve ever heard [a phrase that can be used to describe Kanye in a nutshell]. The subject matter is the song is introspective and somewhat cynical; a trait of Kanye’s music that the masses have missed. Check out the song below and let me know what you think!
Below you will find footage of one of the best days ever! I sat down with one of my FAVE emcees G.O.O.D. Music’s own Cyhi The Prynce ! Mr. Redan Road, just dropped his newest mixtape, Ivy League: The Kickback is full of bangers, BARS and samples that will catch your completely off guard just like the rest. His set at Big Sean’s first-headlining concert in Dec. 2011 was arguably one of the best live performances I’ve seen. Check out part 1 and 2 of the vid below to see hear what Cyhi has to say about his new tape, what his first single is, opinions about other East Atlanta rappers, his role in hip hop, and more! And see why I’m the newest OFFICIAL member of the Ivy League Club! 😉 Be on the lookout for a mixtape review coming to carinecassell.com/music soon!
One word…HILARIOUS- @CEOcypha
With Cruel Summer on the way (September 4, to be exact) the G.O.O.D. Music clan is up and at em seeking to establish themselves in the game as the most respected and prolific rap supergroups in the game. Though this year they’ve gotten hate from unexpected sources, (ie Lil Wayne’s diss aimed at Pusha T http://awe.sm/o1Kz6 and what sounded like shots at the group from rapper Childish Gambino http://awe.sm/e1nFt ) the group is going harder than ever and with the way Ye’s recruitng some of the best in the game; I think they may soon have that title. Watch the video below to see their lineup and a little about that what G.O.O.D. Music’s good music means to them. Visit complex.com >>> http://www.complex.com/music/2012/07/good-music-cover-story for the full story on the group.
It’s going to be a Cruel Summer.
G.O.O.D. Music Atlanta emcee and proclaimed Mr. Redan Road Cyhi the Prynce has dropped Ivy League Club, a new mixtape that showcases his lyrical talent and wordplay as his others mixtapes have. Keeping up with themed mixtapes like Ivy’s predecessor Royal Flush 2, Cyhi’s refers to his fans as the Ivy League Club on this mixtape, and is sure to make more of them with it. This tape has hits; the 808s are crazy, AND it has excellent collabs with other upcoming artists such as Schoolboy Q, Big K.R.I.T., Yelawolf, Pill, and Travis Porter, as well as a verse from Niggas in Paris producer Hit Boy. I saw him perform in December and I must say I am completely rooting for the dude; he gave one of the best performances I have ever seen and dapped up as many fans as he could. Every since he tweeted ” I wasn’t on Mercy because I can’t afford a Lambourghini and I like my music to be truthful!”, I knew I’d be a fan for life. Check out A-Town ft B.O.B. and Travis Porter, and Slick below. If you like what you hear, download it and listen to my personal favorite Drank Smoke ft Big K.R.I.T. and Yelawolf. Might just be July’s Mixtape of the Month..
So we heard about 32 bars on the BET Awards when Ye opened the show, but when I heard the full song yesterday all I could say was “Oh My God.” This track is very reminiscent of College Dropout Kanye; the album that made most fall in love with Kanye’s music and announced him to the game as an emcee to respect. The attack he had took me back to 2003, but with surprising punchlines he remained the lyrical genius we grew to love (and some hate, as he pointed out in I went from most hated to champion god flow/I guess that’s a feeling only me and Lebron know. Pusha T held it down as well, as usual with lines like They love a nigga spirit like Pac at Coachella. Tracks like this make the wait for the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music’s collective album Cruel Summer unbearable.
We all know that there’s been a feud boiling beneath the surface between top rap crews in the game: G.O.O.D. Music and Young Money. Well now it’s not so much beneath the surface as a Pusha T track called “Exodus 23:1” was just released. Many feel as if this song was directed at Lil Wayne and Drake. Wayne seems to think the same…
Here’s the song everyone’s talking about (Exodus 23:1)
By the way, the bible scripture Exodus 23:1 reads like this:
“Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.”
So who do you think ends up winning here? G.O.O.D. MUSIC or Young Money?
Finally some long awaited new music from the self-proclaimed GOAT, rapper Kanye West entitled TheraFlu. In the song, ‘Ye addresses rumors that he hates Wiz as well as give a little bit more information on his rumored relation with Kim Kardashian while dissing her now ex-husband New Jersey Net player Kris Humphries with “He lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team” (which Jay Z is partial owner of). Ahhh the Kanye we know and love. Or love to hate. Check it out! Also be on the look for a G.O.O.D music track entitled “Mercy” that is slated to be released soon, to promote the album that the record label has in the works ft Mr. West, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, CyHi Da Prynce, John Legend, Common, Pusha T and others. Can you say G.O.O.D. music?
